Get to Know Eric Carter

With over 20 years of custom kitchen and bathroom remodeling experience, Eric Carter brings his knowledge, energy and Midwest values to every project. As the founder and owner of Chicago-based 312 Kitchen & Bath, Eric is a luxury remodel expert and designer for high-end residential remodeling, serving clients coast-to-coast.

Originally from Minnesota, Eric actually started his career in health and fitness in Dallas-Fort Worth in the 1990s. Eventually, Eric decided to move back to Minneapolis-Saint Paul to be closer to family. While he considered a career change to become a real estate agent, he instead chose to get into flipping homes for resale profit in the Twin Cities in the late 1990s and early 2000s. After friends, neighbors and prospective home buyers toured Eric's beautifully renovated homes, he soon had a following of discerning homeowners who wanted to hire Eric for their remodel projects. And in 2006, Eric formally began his business by offering design and remodel services for high-end home renovations. This led Eric to become a licensed general contractor in Minnesota and Colorado, where he also flipped luxury homes with real estate investors in Denver and Minneapolis.

As his business and number of clients grew, friends, colleagues and homeowners encouraged Eric to expand the availability of his professional services. After strategic test marketing, Eric rebranded and relocated his business in 2023 from Minneapolis to Chicago, in order to serve clients in Chicagoland and select cities Nationwide. This was an easy and exciting decision for Eric, as he's always loved Chicago and all that the great city has to offer. Eric also already had established relationships with quality national suppliers like ProSource and Ferguson who work with skilled general contractors in Chicago, as well as every major U.S. metro.

Like any homeowner who appreciates fine finishes and a comfortable space, Eric loves seeing outdated houses and condos turned into modern well-planned homes with elegant styling and timeless beauty, which he’s accomplished countless times with luxurious and affordable results. Eric is a tireless perfectionist who’s known for his innovative design vision, impeccable taste and attention to detail. And when it comes to protecting your investment or future resale, Eric knows how to make smart design and remodel choices to maximize your home value.

When Eric is not working, he loves to laugh and have fun while spending quality time and relaxing with friends and family. Eric has many interests that he's passionate about and enjoys, including music, art, sports, history, exercise, cooking, cultural and community events, among others. Eric also enjoys road trips and being near the water, whether it's Lake Michigan (or any beautiful lake). But he especially loves being by the ocean when in sunny Southern California or South Florida during the blustery Chicago winters.

Eric also believes if your remodel budget doesn’t allow you to “do it right”, you’re better off waiting until you can.
